Closes: 23:59 SAST on 3 November 2026
Resolves: When the IEC publishes the City of Cape Town's seat allocation, usually within a week of 4 November.

Rules: Resolves YES if the DA is allocated more than half of all seats on the City of Cape Town council by the IEC after the 4 November 2026 election. Resolves NO if it is allocated half of the seats or fewer. Coalitions, co-operation agreements and later defections do not count: only the seats the IEC allocates to the DA.
If the source is down: If the IEC results site is unavailable, use the IEC's official seat allocation as reported by at least two reputable South African news organisations.
If plans change: If the election is postponed, the market waits for the rescheduled vote. By-elections after the seat allocation do not count. Void if no seat allocation is published by 31 March 2027.
